my 2 year old rottweiler keeps licking his back,it looks a little pussy and is hot to touch i have shaved hair off to see if i can find anything but all there is is a few red spots at the base of his fur but that isnt the exact spot he is licking.
he was in kennelsfor one night last week and this only seems to have appeared friday evening.

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that your Rottie is having this issue. It sounds as though he either has a "hot spot" (which can come on at times of stress)or a bacterial or fungal infection of the skin (this can include ringworm). At home, you'll want to keep the hair clipped back and can use a saline solution to clean the area.
