hello,

i currently have three pregnany guinnea pigs, is it possible to keep them all in the same large cage together whilst they are pregnant and nursing, or will this cause problems (they are all sisters so normally share a cage together anyway)

<p>Hi Rebecca,</p><p>Congrats on your upcoming babies! It's advisable to seperate the females from the males as they approach their due dates as well as for several weeks afterwards. Guinea Pigs can become bred again very quickly and the males may also harm the babies. You may want to consider having your males fixed to avoid future liters (more can be read at the links below). As for keeping the females together, you generally can do so without a problem throughout the pregnancy. Once the pups are born however, is a mixed bag. While guinea pigs female generally are not agressive to other females or their pups, there are instances in which problems can occur: safety varies from situation to situation and the indivdual pigs. In such, it is often safest to seperate.
