Hi! There

If someone keep driving it with a bad clutch, then yes it could cause damage to the transaxle. But most of time replacing the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, piolt will fix the problem. The clutch should have been replaced at the first sign of a problem. If you are unsure of transaxle damage. remove the drain plug and check the fluid for signs of metal. All transaxles will have a very very small amout of metal in the fluid, You are looking for heavy amount of metal content.
