Answer

Hello,

Your ferret is very sick and must be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Blood in the urine, especially accompanied by vomiting, can indicate kidney disease. An infection is another possibility. There is nothing you can do at home for conditions like these. This link will take you to a directory of ferret vets:

Because your ferret is vomiting, she may be getting dehydrated. You can give her some Pedialyte (made for human infants and available in discount stores and pharmacies) to help with that until you can see a vet.

If you have further questions, just let me know by clicking on REPLY. I hope your ferret will be fine.

Anna- I'm not sure if the blood was from her urine or stool. It was not pure red, it was liquid. Could it been somd thing she ate did not pass through her system . I will take her to a vet but I'm in shock since she was fine all day and even playing before this happened. She ate some of her honey nut cherrios and then it started

Blood in the stool is also serious. It could mean she swallowed something sharp, has an infection, or has parasites. Again, the fact that she is also vomiting makes it more serious. I understand how shocked you must be since this came on so suddenly. Continue to keep her warm, and do try to get some Pedialyte. Dehydration is a big concern. When you go to the vet, take along a sample of the red liquid in a plastic bag. It may help the vet with his/her diagnosis. I hope she'll reach a full recovery.
