Question
I received private disability payments through a plan in which I paid the entire premimum for the disability insurance (no employer contribution). I found that this income was not taxable for Federal Income tax, but does this mean it is also not taxable for Social Security Tax and Medicare Tax?
The plan deducted both Medicare and Social Security Taxes from my disability payments.
Can I get these funds refunded to me and how (who) do I get the refund from: the disability payor or the Social Security Admin.?

I have just tried searching the internet under Federal Income and Social Security/Medicare Tax.
Accepted Answer
Hello,
The disability income is not taxable for federal income tax nor is it taxable for SS or Medicare tax because the premium was paid by you and not your employer. If the payments were made to SS, you can obtain the refund from SS
