HI again -okay thank you for that info..

A service may well have cured it if they had gone the extra mile so to speak.. The EGR valve needs checking - removing and cleaning - including the ports where it seats on to as they get very coked up inside.. The valve etc can be cleaned out usually with a good spray cleaner or even petrol...once its all done - refit it and retry it.. Check the valve is complete too - they often break - losing the end disc of the end and leaving a hole ! If thats the case - or if it wont settle - a new valve will be needed..

The other problem that would fit with your circumstance's as described would be teh glow plugs. If you get one - or more - that breaks down or shorts out - it can cause running problems - I have seen this before. Bear in mind that on these modern engines the glow plugs are a part of the engine management system - nit used just for starting - but for emission control as well..

Between the two above you will cure this Im sure... just be sure you are using a garage that is au fait with these modern diesels..
