Hello Neil - Welcome to justanswer..

No it won't be a crank (tdc)sensor this time- that wouldn't stop it cranking..

When you try to start the car- holding the key in the start position - does the LED for the alarm / immob. flash any different to normal - rapidly - or stuck on??

Hello again.... thank you for your reply..

It obviously has a problem looming - Check as above when it next refuses to play the game.. If the LED is as above - then you have an immobilser problem which will need looking into...

If its not occurring such as above - then you either have something simple going on - like a bad connection - on the battery - the starter - and check the earths too.. these are common issues with these..

After that - if all is ok as above - then the problem will be either with the starter motor itself being faulty - or the rear of the ignition barrel ( electrical section).. You would need to test for power at the small trigger way on the starter to determine between the two..

So there you have it- you are prepared now for when it happens again - which it does sound like it will ! ;)

I Sincerely hope I have helped you - Please ask me if you need more help...

Kind Rgds, MIKE
