Thanks for the question XXXXXXXXX,

Ambien { Zolpidem } is a sleeping tablet used in humans but not usually prescribed in the dog. The effects on a dog would of course very much depend on the size of your dog but can be variable.

If this happened within the last hour you should make your dog sick immediately, for the sake of speed I will give you a link on how to do this best : LINK

If a dog was dosed or overdosed on this drug what you might expect to see is incoordination, vomiting, excess salivation, tremors lethargy and weakness amongst other symptoms.

Here is a link to a web page concerning the effects of this drug in the dog : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11899040

It is encouraging that this report says that clinical signs developed within 1 hour and usually resolved within 12 hours and no deaths were reported.

My advice to you is to keep an eye on your dog and contact a vet at once if symptoms develop. Taking the information on the above web site as accurate if no symptoms develop withing two hours then you would be in the clear.

If I have not covered your question fully enough or you would like to ask more I will be online for the next hour or so and I will be at your disposal.
