Optional Information

Year: 1998
Make: BMW
Model: z3
Engine: 1.9 liter

Already Tried:
This is a very high mileage auto with 330,000 miles. It has been very reliable and well maintaned. But reciently while driving it will shut off (as if someone has turned off the key and then abruptly restarts. I have replaced the DME relay but no change. I must mention that while it is cold it runs fine but starts giving me problems after about 1/2 hour (after it warms up) I considered the computer but it seems that if the computer has gone out that the car would not even start.
Please help

Hi, have the fault codes been read on your car?
Typically this is caused by faulty camshaft, or crankshaft position sensors. The fault memory would indicate if this was the case.
Could also be a loose battery cable, or ground from the engine to the chassis.
Check the battery terminals in the trunk for looseness. and The ground from the right side of the engine arm to the chassis to make sure its tight.
Then have the fault memory read by a local shop, or some Autozone parts stores will read the faults for free, call ahead to confirm.
