Answer
Okay ...first off, please download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility using the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Run the utility and remove any traces of Adobe Acrobat present, using the same; done that, reinstall it and check if you are able to open it up all right now.
Keep me posted.

this is a downloaded version and I don't have a disc to reinstall from, the program files were moved from my desktop machine which was acting as the server to a new separate file server machine ... the program probably doesn't like being moved .... and has lost its corr DLL .... is there a way of finding it or downloading a replacement cersion of this DLL

this is a fatal error message and only refers to the "Core DLL"
Answer
Okay ...in that case, please go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore, then restore your system back to a date/time prior to when you did the online Adobe upgrade.
Restart thereafter and check if this resolves the issue all right ...keep me posted.

I'm sorry you feel that way, however, since that was not a clean install of Adobe Acroba you have had, a system restore will just be about the only recourse for you at this point.
Anyways, thanks for using JustAnswer.
