Question

My home air conditioner is not working. When the unit outside turns on, the blower in the house (which also operates for my gas furnace in the basement) does not come on.   The blower works because i can turn it on by itself (on the "on" setting on my thermostat) and it functions for the furnace as well. I left it in the on position and turned the thermostat to cool and it cut off. What could this be?

Answer

If it works by turning the fan switch on it means the cooling relay for fan in the thermostat is bad. You will need to replace the thermostat. I will leave this question open in case you require follow up.
