Question

My son has a Maytag Atlantis Washer (Top Load). A blanket got caught under the agitator. Can't get agitator off to remove shredded blanket. He broke off part of the agitator in trying to get the blanket out, so will need a new agitator.

How can he get the old agitator off and where can he get a new one?

Do you have the model #? It should be on the top right of the control panel on the back.

Accepted Answer

The cap will pop of the top of the agitator and then you will see one bolt holding it down in the middle.

Does it take a special kind of wrench to get the bolt off?

Does it take a special wrench in order to get the bolt off. Also, if a new agitator is ordered, how long will it take to get it here in Utah, or can I pick one up at a Magtag Applicance Center in Salt Lake City?

Answer

No just a 1/2 inch or 7/16 socket. Yes you can get one locally. I just looked that part up from an online parts place.
