Info Request

Hi, by "now no power to it," do you mean that the light indicating the burner is on no longer lights up when you turn the knob?

Answer

With the popping noise, and the indicator light coming on, your burner needs to be replaced. I am assuming this is the burner you use most often, as they are usually the first to fail, so I will make the suggestion that you should also change the burner switch at the same time and be done with it. Glass cook tops are not always the easiest to get into, and must be dismantled anyway to change the burner. The switch for this burner could fail shortly after and take out your brand new burner, so you are better off to buy both parts and replace them in one shot.

i was wondering if it were somethind that would be easily replaceable doing it myself

Accepted Answer

Well, that really depends on how handy you are. If you are pretty mechanically inclined and feel comfortable about taking apart and reassembling your cook top, I am sure you could do it. However, if you are not very handy or do not feel confident about it, it may be worth having a technician out to install the parts. And if you do go that route, you may be able to save your self some money and time by buying the parts yourself and having them there, as you will avoid any mark up they may make to the parts, and may save yourself two trips from a technician.
