Info Request

Hiya,

This sounds like the fault you would get on a Servis washing machine.

Is this a Servis washing machine?

If it is, how old is it?

Thanks

Hi nice to talk to someone who might help. It is a Servis machine and is just over 2 years old.

Answer

Hiya,

OK, thanks for that.

Unfortunately Servis went bust last year and all their technical web site went with them.

Having said that, there are common faults on these appliances and most are with the electronics.

Unplug the appliance, take the top and the rear panels off.

At the top right or bottom rear right will be a pcb (control board).

Take the control board out and check the connections are secure and tight.

Look for any signs of physical damage or burning.

Pull the plugs off and put them back on again.

Reassemble the appliance and try again.

Hope this helps

Let me know how it goes

Thanks

Hi

Still no further on as the back panel had tamper proof screws and the top needed square spanner so my friend is coming back tomorrow with the right tools. Thanks for your help so far.

Hi there
Did all the things you suggested and it all looked immaculate. Still doesn't start. Could it be that it doesn't register that the door is locked? Or the door lock? Its always needed an extra push on the door to start.

Hiya,

It's definitely possible, the only worrying part is the spin light that flickers.

With there being no damage to the pcb then the next stage is to check the door lock.

Unplug the appliance, open the door and take the door seal retainer off.

Peel the door seal off the front panel, take the screws out of the door lock and bring the door lock out the port hole.

Let me know what the wiring is, is it a plug or 3 seperate wires?

Thanks

Hiya,

Make a note of there the wires fit.

Take the two outside ones off, join them together temporarily and insulate them.

Refit the door lock and door seal, try the machine again.

Thanks

Hi there sorry it takes so long to get on with things. I have to wait till someone comes and then you are offline so nothing can be tried continuously. We have actually tried replacing the door lock as the old one didn't respond when we tested the contacts and they weren't expensive. My friend also tested the water level sensor. All seems well but machine still lights up but doesnt start. Is anything else worth trying or shall I just buy a new one? Thanks for all your help I hope you can reply to this.

Hiya,

To be honest, I would recommend replace instead of repair.

Servis are not the best machine in the world, the electronics on them are weak and you could spend a lot money repairing this one.

I think you'll find that the problem with your machine is the electronics.

Only you can really decide on repair or replace.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Thanks
