Question

00' Seadoo GTX & 01' Seadoo GTX RDI sank in shallow water - rear drain plugs weren't secured. Won't start now, sounds like dead battery, tried jumping and still sounds like battery. Removed sparkplug and can see liquid in chamber. What is going on and what do I need to do?

Accepted Answer

Hello. If you see water in the cylinder then the reason it won't crank is that it is hydro-locked, and attempting to start it will damage the engine since the water will not compress as the piston comes up. You need to remove all spark plugs and then crank it to force the water out, then replace them at attempt to start. If it doesn't start, remove the plugs, dry tem, and try again. You may need to repeat this process multiple times. You should also check for spark at each plug to make sure your ignition is working.
