I have a 30 hp Yamaha that goes well. Afiter an outing yesterday I tried to flush the motor. Only problem is that the motor would not run when when the choke was removed it would stall no mater how long it was kept running whilst on choke as I mentioned it seem to run well previusly

Hello. This sounds like the air/fuel mixture is insufficient to support running without the choke., which in turn suggests that there is insufficient flow of gas through the carb. When the choke is on, it reduces the amount of air allowed in and creates a mixture that will support combustion. The blockage is probably caused by gum resulting from the ethanol in the gas combining with moisture to form a gummy solid. Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of this is to disassemble and clean the carbureter internally.

Well Dave If that is the problem then will the gummy solid be a one off meaning I will clean the carbi and the problem will be no more or will this reappear?

Answer

This is a problem that sometimes re-occurs, because it can happen anytime moisture (water) is available to ethanol. One good protection is to keep your fuel tank as full as possible, especially during high humidity, because then there is less room for condensation in the tank. A good fuel filter will also help.
