Hello and welcome.

Is the check engine light, or has it been on?

The check engine light was on, and I had to get a coolant hose replaced a couple of weeks ago, they turned off the check engine light, it has never come back on.

Like I said, it will be running fine, and then start sputtering like it is cutting out....then start running fine again

Answer

OK.

A fuel filter would be a good idea.

Also suggest getting fuel pressure checked. May have a fuel pump

starting to fail.

If you have a sensor problem, you should have a check engine light come on.
