Dear Cher,

i t is not exactly what i am looking for. i would like to know what is the process in the mass production manufacturing. there is no chance that the painting is done by hand. there has to be some kind of automatic forming and painting.

this is what i am looking for

thank!

i would like to find out about the painting process of the simple Halloween masks (the ones you find for $2.99 in party city.

they are so cheap that there is no way they are being painted by hand.

Hi again,

Do you mean the 'hard', plastic-type ones that you put on with an elastic around the back of your head?

Hi again, Eli.

The mask, as you see in that picture at the link, IS spray painted, one color at a time; for example, the entire green face, then, the reddish-pink on the cheeks and lips, the lighter brown around the eyebrows and sides of the face. Then, the black areas, like the mustache, goatee, eyebrows, and the outlining in brown around the eyes, IS painted by hand.

Remember, these masks are made in China, where there is cheap labor and a surplus of employees. When the pre-spray painted masks come off the assembly line, laborers hand paint the rest of the features and it can take only seconds to minutes for them to finish each mask, as this is all they do and they are fast and proficient at it. That's how the prices can be kept so low for export to the US.
