Fein tools and saw blades are excellent products. However, let's first discuss the actual use of the Multimaster combination tool. The price of the model your thinking of is quite expensive unless your husband definitely has use for the accessories. If the purpose you've mentioned "cut trim in place" is the main purpose then this is not to tool to choose. There are available several cut off power tools for this purpose. A home remodeling contractor friend of mine has the Fein combination tool. He is well pleased with it's performance but even he doesn't use the full capabilities to any great extent. You might visit the Fein website and browse some of the other "packages" for this combination tool. Some that are offered with less accessories are only around $200.00.
