Question

My daughter allowed her boyfriend to move in (2 months ago) with us without asking, he doesn't work, doesn't have a vehicle, and is not looking for a job. What do we need to do to get him out?

Optional Information

State/Country relating to Question: Oregon

Already Tried:
We have discussed him getting a job, finding a new place to live, and possibly moving out of state, but none of his friends and family will allow him to move in with them, and the last temp job he had (for 1 week) gave him just enough money to pay off a ticket he had, which had to be paid so he wouldn't be thrown back in jail.

He tells us about the jobs he is planning on applying for, but he is not out looking. The fact that his own family won't allow him him a place to stay concerns me. My step-daughter recently inherited some money from her deceased mother and she has spent $25,000 in 3 months on camping, fishing, fast food, and buying him a new wardrobe and anything else he wants. To be fair she is spending a lot of money on camping, fishing, food, and whatever else strikes her fancy on both of them, not just him, but we don't feel that she should be spending money that was designed to be used on her education to support someone who can't take any responsibility for himself.

She let him stay in our house, and we found out later that evening, because he had been kicked out of another friends house. She told us it was temporary, and although we weren't happy about it we agreed (by default) to let him stay for a short while. From our discussions we felt the understanding was that he would find a job, then find a place to live. Other than the 1 temp job, he doesn't seem to be looking.

Answer

Thanks for the in formation.

I'll assume that you asked him to leave and he hasn't done so. If that is the case, in order to evict him you must go file a landlord/tenant action in court.

Below please find a link to an explanation of the residential eviction process.

Also below, please find a link to the landlord/tenant resource page. You can click on all sorts of areas of landlord tenant law.

Even if he pays no rent, he must be evicted through the legal process.
