Question

I h
I have applied for SOC> SEC> benefits as a mother of a 9 yr. old son. My husband of 3 1/2 years was his step father and supported him 100% until he died on Aug. l. My child lives with me and I care for him and send him to school every day. I am from Russia, here legally with a SS # as well as my son, with proper green card and documents. They have approved my son to get $1,434 a mo. but have declinded my benefits. I have printed some pages from their hand book that totally seems like I am elegible. Some of the Handbook chapters on line I am refering to are #324, #415 $401 #331. I have talked to several people and no seems to know what the other one is doing. Very unreliable. I have an appt. at the local office with an Administrative Law Judge on Oct 7. I will take my entire file, but is there anything you can suggest that I can do? I am Yulia Zatonskaya and I am using my mother in laws computer and e mail address. Thank so very much.

Info Request

Hello,

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your son and husband. So do I understand correctly that Mrs. Zatonskaya has appealed the Social Security Administration's decision and will see the ALJ in October?

I realize that this is only a help - but we have the original application, and all other letters sent by Soc. Sec. to take to the meeting. Is there anything else -- they seem to keep asking her on the phone if she is taking care of her son and of course she is. She lives with me and takes excellent care of him, send him to school every day and does all the things a good mother does. Should we take some signed statements from friends and other family members that she was in deed living with my son at the time of his unexpected death? Thanks

Info Request

Hi,

Are you able to see my first post to you? I was asking if she has appealed the decision of the Social Security Administration yet, and if so, is that what her appointment is about that is coming up in October?

Relist: No answer yet. I don't understand what else you wanted me to do. I gave you as much info as I had, plus some SS Handbook chapters to look under for help in my answer.

Relist: Other I never did get an answer from you, except that you needed more info - I did not have more than I gave you. I did get a bill of $38 on my Visa which was suppose to be charged only if I got an answer. What a scam. I will ask my credit card company to dispute this charge.
