my 2006 Paast is blowing hot air with the A/C/turned on. I can play with the temp. control knob and the a/c will start cooling. The compressor is running and vapor linr to the compressor is coming back cold.Can the compute be flashed or is it in the temperature control knob or do you think the problem is in the moto that controls the heat?

Most likely the compressor has failed on your vehicle, the is a service bulletin for this matter. How many miles are on the vehicle? Do you have manual or automatic climate control?

Dan, the compressor is working fine. Low side line coming pack to compressor is cold. The car has 54,000 miles on it.

Did this vehicle ever have the compressor fail where it compressor shoots metal fileings through the a/c system? If so there is a possibility that the expansion valve may be stuck. Have you brought the vehicle to a dealership regularly? If so they should offer you somesort of goodwill on this repair and you have the chance to perform the service bulletins and required vehicle updates on this vehicle.

There is also basic settings that can be performed on this climate control system that sweeps the blend doors and checks for smooth movement of the doors in the a/c and heater box.

the blend doors seem to be working.because at time I can get the car to blow cold air. Is there a way for me to check the blend doors?

You cannot check the doors without a vw scan tool nor can you set the basic setting without this tool which is why I would have a dealer look at the vehicle to accurately diagnose the problem.

I haven't really seen any problems with this part but a diagnostic of the climate control system would easily identify a problem with this part.
