I haven't tried anything, just wondering if I can still breed her. Last time she was in heat her uterus prolapsed a little bit.

kaleenalee,

You can, but she is more likely to have problems with the birth. Also, it is unknown if prolapsed uteri are congenital, so we have no way to know if her daughters will have similar problems. Unless she is an amazing example of the breed, I'd recommend spaying her.

Dr. Karen

so do you think she could have problems even with a c-section birth? She is from a grand champ sire and dam. I paid a lot of money for her and she is an amazing dog. I would like to have one litter from her, but not if it puts her life at risk. She is first and foremost a pet.

XXXXXXXXXX,

Actually, I am most concerned that she would lose the pups prematurely. I don't think the prolapse increases her risk with the birth. I would expect her to need a c-section, as she is a bulldog. While there is always a risk with any pregnancy, if she is that awesome it may be worth it to try once to see if she can hold onto the pups. Just be aware she may have more trouble than normal getting pregnant if her uterus was damaged in any way to prevent implantation.

Best of luck to both of you,
Dr. Karen
