Answer

Hi XXXXX;

I am unsure of what you mean by a "list". If you mean the criteria for qualifying as a HUD or section 8 building what you would do is contact them and request that an inspection be done. They will provide the required paprework and then you would file it and they would perform the inspection and certify the buildings accordingly.

before having inspector's here we needed to know what preparations or specific items we need to concenterate on to make sure the apartment is up to code. please respond, however I have to leave briefly to go to a doctor's appointment I'll check back (and leave my computer on when I get back). thank you.

If you are looking for a check list Im sorry but there isnt one. Basicly HUD and Chapter 8 require that you know the requirements as stipulated in the associated codes and regulations. Those would be the building codes adopted by your State, and local building inspectors office. These would include the ICC codes, National Electrical Codes, Fire Protection Codes, Handicapped access codes, etc.

In order to know what you need to correct you will need someone that knows these codes to perform an inspection for you. That would be a home inspector. You will want to use one that is certified by the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI). They will provide you with a list of corrections that you need to make prior to the HUD inspections.

To locate a NACHI inspector in your area just enter the search term "NACHI" in your search engine.

Best, THS
