Question

When I was a 5th grader at my local school district, i was raped on more then one occasion by my teacher. This was happened 8 years ago now. But my question is this, the school district knew something was wrong with the teacher and made him quit in the middle of the year, and wouldn't give anyone a real answer why they made him quit. And the class had to finish the year out with a substitute teacher. I know the school district knew something and didn't want anyone to know. So they covered the whole thing up. I was only 10 at the time and didn't say anything until this past year after I had a mental breakdown. I want to know if its a good idea to go after the school district for doing this? I know its to late to go after the teacher, but is it to late to go after the schools?

Answer

You can file suit now that you are 18 and you should indeed seek to do so. You will need to get yourself an attorney, since the statute of limitations for these types of suits does not begin to run until you turn 18. I would say it is a good idea to go after BOTH the school district and the teacher and you should even go to file criminal charges against the teacher as well by going to the DA's office.
