Question

I have a 5.5 month old Siberian Husky with a left eye that from 6 weeks has a purple pink eye that he can not see out of. The local vet suggest go to an optamologist. My daughter is in another state and her vet diagonased a scratch by another dog problably when born living so close together. Her dog has the same condition. Her dog was given antibiotics and an eye ointment. Plus something for pain. This was when her dog was 9.5 lbs and my dog is 34 pounds. Tell me what to do. I live in a small Mississippi town and I will probably need to go to Memphis, Tn.

If he had this problem at 6 weeks old, then it is probably just scar tissue by now. It is doubtful that anything can be done for him at this age, but if you can get to Mississippi State's Vet school with him, they should be able to tell you how much damage there is and if there is anything to do.

If the pup is scratching at the eye or keeping his eye closed, that indicates pain from an acute injury. If he is not bothering it, then there is not any pain.
