Answer

A parking space is a designated area for one car. It may have markings, or no markings. For example there may be designated handicap parking that is marked. It may be a single space on the street, or a space or spaces A parking lot is an area of property that contains parking spaces. Spaces may be designated for handicap, visitors only or resident parking.

It is illegal to have a parking space in a fire route that is marked as a fire route. The marking may be on the ground or on a sign.

can an "owner" of a parking space prohibit tenants from walking through his space/lot?

Posted by xavierjd 75 days and 17 hours ago.

Answer

An "owner" of a parking space can't prohibit someone from walking through it, unless the spot was marked "private property" and marked "no tresapassing". Then if a person went throuh the space, you need to advice him first to leave, and if he didn't leave, you could call the police for trespassing.

what is the legality of the sign "private property and no tresapassing" every one can buy them every where.
If you live in a condominium you have to walk through parking space/lot. They can put signs every where and then?

Accepted Answer

What you say is true. I just suggested that those were "possibilities."

It is doubtful that anyone could be prohibited from walking through a parking lot or parking space.

However, the parking lot can be limited to residents and their guests only, if it is private property.

With respect to the parking space, a person legally in the lot can walk through a space. The only limitation would be that the person does not damage the vehicle in the space, or hide between spots for malicious purposes, etc.

Also, if you have a condo association, any issues can be taken before the board for discussion.
