Hi Carl,
Thanks for prompt response. First the good news, after following all of the above when I plugged the HDMI cable into the computer and connected to the monitor, the setting menu on the monitor recognised the HDMI cable and allowed me to select it.
The bad news is the image on the screen went a dark grey and the only thing I could see was the mouse pointer on the screen. When I moved the mouse, the pointer moved also; so there appeared to be some connectivity between the screen and the computer.
Not sure why the desktop image could not be seen.
Am I right in thinking that if I have a HDMI cable in the back of the graphics card going to the monitor I should still be able to see the desktop image along with all the program icons etc?
The only reason why I wanted the improved graphics card was to display the High Def video film on the monitor in its true glory rather than the blurrred/not so sharp picture that I currently see, whening playing back the files?
Any ideas - looked at the settings on the nvidia panel but nothing seemed to work.
