I can't find the latest antivirus defination fully patched @ www.soft82.com/download/windows/mcafee-super-update/ now that I've uninstallled my mcafee. Can you advise?

Hi Fargo,

it appears the link he gave you was outdated or invalid.

In order to continue, you should already have the McAffee software installed. This is just the definitions.

Here is a link I just tested.

Download this file and run it, and it should automatically update your Mcaffee antivirus to the latest definitions.

DANGEROUS URL REMOVED

Then run a full virus scan and clean and reboot.


Also, here is some more excellent advice:

MALWAREBYTES


You should download, update, and run this program. Just use the free version

Go to www.malwarebytes.org

Click the Blue button on the left to download malwarebytes software and save or run the program.

Say OK to any warnings about downloading.
Install the program using the default settings (choose defaults, or for exact instructions, see the how-to video using the link below for exact instructions)

Run a quick scan first, Click Show Results, and delete all that it finds, reboot.

Likely that program will find "malware" which is spyware....

It will solve 95% of the problems. If it still persists I will recommend additional steps based on the symptoms.

but this is what you definitely need to do to start out. EVEN if you already have an antispyware and/or antivirus program currently. This program catches things that other programs miss.

Oh, that is probably because it is a link to an .exe file. It's not dangerous, its a link to the Mcaffee site...

Let me give you a link to a zip file. You will have to unzip it then run it....

try this

Hi,

I am not sure why it keeps deciding the URL is dangerous. It is the Mcafee website.

Try this link:

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/dat.asp?region=us&segment=enterprise

then on that page, download the last file on the list and run it. the file name is 5733xdat.exe

if you have a problem with that one, on the same page, download dat-5733.zip and right click on it after it is downloaded and expand it. Then run it.

this last link was just a description of the file contents. You dont need to worry about it. It just opens a document to read.
