fuel pump fails to pump, new relay,pumpand wire harness .pump gives a quick spurt of fuel then nothing.

Already Tried:
installed new relay and fuel pump with inside tank wire harness . voltage at weather proof connector is 8 volts. turn on key and pump gives a quick spurt of fuel then nothing.

no.truck sat for the winter and I started it left it to warmup for five minutes when I came back it stopped running when i put it in gear.I ckecked sharder valve for fuel and their was none.truck has 3/8 fuel in tank

Hi,the 8 volt reading when are you checking it(should be when you first turn the key on )? You should have batt voltage going to the pump(at least 12 volts).Is the oil pressure gage rising while you are cranking?Let me know and we can go from there,thanks,Dave

voltage dropped to 6.8 volts when cranking and oil pressure does not move when cranking

Turn key on and check battery voltage, make sure it is at least twelve volts. If not install a battery charger and set on low. Go to fuel pump connector disconnect and install meter on fuel pump wire(grey wire) turn key on and check for battery voltage(should be almost the same as battery) for three seconds. If that is OK try to start vehicle battery voltage should be present. If not check wiring to fuel pump relay. If that is good make sure you are getting battery voltage to re
