Question

I took in a 6 month old stray and she is always trying to "nurse" my shirt, sleeve, etc. Apparently she lost her mother too young. Is there a solution to this? Can this make her a mean cat later in life?

Hello there,

The cat may grow out of it. There are cats that are called 'cotton suckers' or 'wool suckers'. They get an addiction to chewing on these fabrics. Discourage the kitten from doing it. Flicking her on the nose when she does it will stop her. It should not make her mean later in life. It is a socialization problem from leaving mom too early. It is not uncommon. Some female cats do tend to become nasty when older whether they are socialized properly or not.
