Question

My 14 year old cat, Stubby, who is usually eager to eat, won't eat. He is very thirsty
and drinks a lot of water. He is lively & active-but- won't eat.

Threw up this morning kind if a clear liquid- with a tiny speck [and I mean
tiny- looked like a mini cell] of blolod in it.

Tried to make an apt w our Vet tomorrow [Sat] but it is Labor Day
weekend so we had to make it for Tuesday. They did give me any emergency
number for an Animal Hospital that's kind of far> I only have the use of one
eye and do not want to drive there.

Think I can wait 'til Tuesday?

Thanks   Mary Ann

Hello,

Thanks for submitting your question to Just Answer

For a cat this age there are a few highly probable possibilities:
Kidney disease
Diabetes mellitus
Liver Disease

Unfortunately, each of these possibilities have a much greater chance of a positive outcome if your cat gets an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment as soon as possible. Diabetes is the most worrisome, because your cat's condition could deteriorate rapidly (less than 24 hours).

I'm sorry I can't tell you it will be alright to wait, but I'm afraid it is not.

Hope this helps
