I am so sorry that Harry is having these problems. Unfortunately a Rodents life span is not that of a cat or dog. There is not really a humane way of Euthanizing an animal at home. What I can suggest if this is what you feel would be best, I can try and locate a Home visit Vet for you with a city, state and Zipcode. This would allow Harry to be in the comfort of his own home and you can be with him. This would definately relieve the stress of leaving the house. A different Vet may even feel there is a viable treatment for Harry, and can help with the breathing and abcess. Please let me know if finding a home visit Vet would be of help. This link has House Call Vets. It shows 25 that would make house calls. It is just matter of finding one that feels comfortable with treating Harry. We want to be sure that Harry gets someone who is Rat savy. Joan
