Question

My puppy has had a bad week. She was diagnosed with a UTI, somehow scraped her nose and got pink spots on it and now has a round sore between the pads of her front paw. She is on Clavomax for the UTI but I was wondering if the nose pigment would come back. I have not seen blood on it and it seems very superficially scraped. Also, what is the best remedy for her paw. I'm thinking of Betadine and Neosporin.

I have also noticed gagging on several occasions and sneezing. Even though she has been vaccinated for Kennel Cough, I'm afraid she has it because a dog at her Daycare was diagnosed with it last week. Will the Clavomax help if she does have it or will she have to take more medicine.

I have used a cream on the nose called Animax. I just found the scrape on her paw when we came home after being gone over night and leaving her with a friend. I cleaned the paw with antibacterial soap and applied the Animax to it as well.

Sounds like you are doing fine with the home first aid on all the sore spots. The clavamox should help the healing on the other areas too.

Yes normally nose pigment comes back once the area heals.

And yes you are absolutely right that dogs can get kennel cough after being vaccinated for it. Its a viral infection and the vaccine only covers a few of the common strains. The antibiotics she is on should keep her from going into bacteiral pneumonia which can be a secondary infection that goes with the viral kennel cough.

If the sores on the face and feet spread this could be puppy strangles (horrible name but breathing issues are not a symptom of it) an autoimmune problem you can read about here

Hope this helps you!
