The final answer is that there is no way of knowing this for
sure. There are far too many variables to be able to accurately
ascertain how many times a person will look at thier watch.
For instance : do you count looking at just the watch, or any time
piece. I personally don't wear a watch, so my number would be
zero. If you count any time piece, then you have computer
screens, desk phones, cell phones, PDA, bank clocks, car clocks.
It would be impossible to determine how many of each of these a person
looks at during the day since they are everywhere.
Then you have the person's mentality. Are they anxious or
mellow. An anxious person standing in line at Starbucks will look
at thier watch more times in a 3 minute period of time, then a mellow
person will look at thier watch in the course of the whole day.
So ultimately in one day you can have a person look at thier watch any number of times between 0 and 86,400.
I know this was not the answer you were hoping for, but if you found it helpful, please hit the accept.
