Hi and welcome to Just Answer!

I just have a few questions so that I may better help you:

Can you tell from where the smell is coming from? ears, mouth, skin?

Can you describe what it smells like?

My sister says it is an over all smell. You walk into a room and the odor hits you in the face. It leaves the strong odor where ever it lays . It is not just coming from its skin.

Accepted Answer

Ok, odors that strong can either come from an infected area on the dog.....most commonly is ears or skin or the combo of the two. I can be very, very strong and almost make you gag if it is really bad. I have had dogs stink from anal gland infections. That almost smells like rotten fish, but I would expect the dog to be licking its rear end constantly. Finally, as you had asked, yes sick dogs can smell. Kidney disease and cancer can both make the breath smell very bad. The smell will be like something rotting. I don't know if she has been to her vet for this. It will be easier to treat if the source of the smell can be localized.

You can reply to this.
