  1. Remove the upper intake manifold.

  1. Disconnect the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube from the exhaust manifold and remove the valve and tube as an assembly.

  1. Remove the bolts and the ignition coil cover.

  1. Disconnect the four ignition coils.

  1. Separate the engine wiring harness from the valve cover studs.

  1. Remove the bolts, studs and the left valve cover.
    • Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.

Installation

  1. Apply silicone in the locations shown.
    • Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F7AZ-19554-EA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A4.

  1. Position the valve cover and install the eight bolts and two studs in the sequence shown.

  1. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the valve cover studs.

I need the diagrams/information on how to remove the intake manifold. That's where I am stuck, it looks like there are several inaccesible bolts on the back of the intake manifold that I cannot get to.

Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
  2. Partially drain the engine cooling system.

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control cable, and the return spring.

  1. Remove the bolts and position the cables and bracket out of the way.

  1. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) return line.

  1. Disconnect and remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) tube.

  1. Disconnect the coolant lines and plug.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the intake tuning valve.

  1. Remove the bolts and five clips and the wiring harness shield.

  1. Remove the bolts and the stud, and the balance tube.

  1. Remove and discard the gaskets and clean the sealing surfaces.

  1. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor.

  1. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum lines and the electrical connector from the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) .

  1. Disconnect the two hoses and the electrical connector from the differential pressure feedback EGR.

  1. Remove the nut.

  1. Note: The bolts are located at the front side of the LH cylinder head. Remove the bolts from the power steering reservoir bracket and position it aside.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum line from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

    • Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.

Installation

  1. Install the upper intake manifold:
    • Install the bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) and then an additional 90 degrees in the sequence shown.

    • Install a new gasket.
    • Position the EGR valve adapter.
    • Install the bolts.

1/4 inch socket/swivel with extension seems to work the best.
