Question
I have a yanmar 4JH2-hte engine on my 1997 sailboat. I believe that the impeller is bad as the engine is overheating while in use, but holds OK at idle. I am trying to check the impeller but am unable to locate it on the engine. How do I get to the impeller? Where is it located and do I have to remove the waterpump to replace the impeller?
Thank you
Bill

Hello. Yes, a bad impeller is the most likely cause of overheating. You'll need to remove and disassemble the water pump to replace the impeller.
