Hi:

When the engine dies, check gauges light comes on. Check engine light has been coming on before this problem started. My husband took off the carburetor cover, filter and some metal thing that sits inside the filter because we thought it started up good and that I would be able to return home with no problem. No ways.. today it did the same thing. It starts up right away but then it wants to die so I press the gas pedal and put it in gear quickly pressing the gas so as not to die out. I drive around the parking lot timing the green light for me to turn left and head home. I have to put it in neutral for two more stop lights with my foot lightly pressing the gas and then I'm good till I reach home.

Answer

ok

if it seems like the choke isnt opening,,this tells me it is flooding with fuel..the problem may be the ect[egine coolent tempeture]sensor]this tells the computer when it is at temp,so it will cut back on the fuel...the parts store can give you the exact location of the ect,,it cost around $25

thankls

Relist: Inaccurate answer. I have had my truck with the mechanic for over a week and changing the ect temperture sensor was not the answer. My truck in idle still dies out. The mechanic is saying that my computer is the problem. I had all kinds of things changed and costed me so far, $500 and lossing money with my work truck out.
