Customer Question

I agreed to set up an account 2 days ago with CNB to consolidate my credit card debt. After more consideration I would like to get a personal loan at my bank. Can I get out of the agreement with CNB. Nothing has actually been set-up, however, I did fill out an authorization for an automatic withdrawal from my checking account to begin in September.

Expert's Answer

Thanks XXX XXXX question. It depends here on whether you signed a debt consolidation loan or something else. You will have to see what it is you signed up for here.Since it is direct withdrawal you would need to also contact your bank here about canceling the automatic withdrawal as well.

It is my guess that you set up a debt consolidation loan here--if you signed loan unless they let you out of it here you may be stuck. But it never hurts to ask what status is and tell them you changed mind and want to cancel..

I haven,t received any paper work yet - does this make a difference. I am 82 years old and know I have a tendency to act on impulse.

If you haven't signed a loan here then you would be free to cancel. I suggest you call them the first thing in the morning and let them know you had a change of heart and decided to go in a different direction. Hopefully this won't be a problem.
