Question

My cat is a vomits on a fairly regular basis, but she's doing it quite frequently for the past 3 or 4 days and her nose feels dry and warm. It seems like she may have a slight temperature. Also, she's definitely not her usual happy sweet self. Her tummy doesn't feel hard in any spots (I thought she might be constipated from a hairball so have been giving her hairball treatment). I know something's not right, but can't afford to take her to the vet. Any ideas? I don't see any other symptoms such as foam in vomit, goopy eyes, labored breathing.

Optional Information

Pet's Sex: Female
Pet's Age: 6

Already Tried:
I've given her cat treats with hairball remedy and 1 dose of salmon flavoured hairball remedy (the stuff with the mineral oil textured a bit like butter that she can lick. That's pretty much all I've seen her eat (she doesn't eat much to begin with, never has. Yet she doesn't look skinny. She's in beautiful shape and looks very young and healthy. Not up to date on her shots although she's had most throughout her lifetime

Hi, Thank you. Daisy is 6 yrs old, has been spayed. She is an outdoor cat. Our other cat gets canned tuna frequently but I rarely see her eat it, if ever. We don't give our cats other people food, except milk as a very rare occasional treat. She doesn't really like it. All she likes to eat are cat treats. (Temptations) I don't know about the diarrhea. Her weight seems normal. I don't know about the bowel movement either, sorry. Her appetite isn't quite as good as usual. Thank-you.

Thank you for the additional information. I know that money is pretty tight right now, but your kitty really needs to see a vet, and it needs to be within the next few days. It is difficult to evaluate how much trouble she is in, because of her outdoor status and some of her habits (bowel movements, etc) are untrackable. This outdoor status is also what makes it difficult to give a narrow list of possible ailments. Based on her symptoms and history, her problem could be the result of anything from intestinal parasites or a virus (leukemia or aids) to an ingestion of a foreign object or toxic substance......to a condition like Inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, feline heartworms or a long list of other problems. Cats instinctively hide illness, and it is alarming that your kitty is showing such obvious symptoms. It can indicate an advanced stage of illness. The longer it takes to have her seen and have her condition diagnosed and treated, the more difficult and expensive it will be to make her well again. I think she should be seen before the weekend because most vets have limited hours, and I am afraid that she will go down hill during this time frame. A trip to the emergency vet will set you back alot more money than having her seen by a regular vet. You can contact your local humane society or SPCA and inquire about low cost animal hospitals in your area. These hospitals may be able to help your kitty for a lot less money, and they might even have payment plans. Depending on your situation, you may qualify for care credit, which is a low interest credit card that can be used towards veterinary care. You can apply online at

http://www.carecredit.com/

You can also refer to the following website for a listing of organizations that offer financial assistance to pet owners with sick animals.

http://www.speakingforspot.com/helppayingforveterinarycare.html

Hopefully, you can find some help among one of these organizations. Best of luck with your little Daisy, I hope she feels better soon :)
