Question

I had my 86 buick electra (T-Type) Transmission rebuilt 2 yrs ago. After 105 degree weather it started leaking fluid slowly. It takes a lot of revs to shift to reverse...but seems to go into first OK...I did stop driving it though. Any thoughts?

It's not leaking profusely. It has a new engine (not rebuilt) 3 years ago..that's why I went ahead and had the tranny done. Transmission is a 440T.

Answer

hi

this tells me you have low pump presure,,,if you havent changed the filter and fluid in a while,,please do so,it may be clogged..after haveing a trans rebuilt,it is a good idea to change the filter after the first 1000 mi.

thanks

Good info...is this why it would be leaking?

Accepted Answer

no

,,this may be because aof a cooling line or mabe an axle seal..or even worse a frnt main trans seal...you will need to look and see where it is coming from
