Question

Hi,

I pulled some romex through the walls and into a counter with doors. I plan to run the romax up next to the countertop (inside the counter) than back into the wall and tap into an existing curcuit. Do I need to use conduit?

Answer

Hello ... you cannot put the romex in conduit , except for protection against damage .. in your situation , under the cabinets and thru the cabinets , romex is usually run without protection, stapled to the inside corner of the cabinet or behind the drawers in the cabinet .. where in the cabinet is this going to be run ?

down one side along the top edge under the counter top, across the back also along the top edge and back into the wall above an existing outlet inside the counter. I will drop down the wall and tap into the existing power. The counter is used for storage and some audio equipment. That is why there is power in the back wall of the counter.
