my ex and my 10 year old daughter just moved in with her boy friend. in a 40 year old mobile home that was being trashed. they moved it to there ranch, ran a small electric cord to it. a water hose. and the drains are running out on the dirt. now i know how unsafe this is to be living in. if the building department goes out there what will they make them do to it to keep living in it?

At a minimum they will need to hook the drainage up to a proper septic system. This can be an existing system if it is large enough to accomodate the additional load. They will need to run a properly sized and protected electrical service to the trailer. The water line would need to be the proper material (polyethelene at a minimum) not a garden house. As you are no doubt aware the current situation as described is not a safe environment for anyone let alone a 10 year old child.

One other thing. It is likely that the mobile home doesn't conform to HUD specs since it is older than HUD. So depending on where you are the mobile home itself may not comply with local ordinances.
