Question

I am looking for a fan to power ventalate my attic in hot weather. I do not want to cut a hole in the roof, but I have luvered vents in the gable ends of the attic. I would prefer 120v ac. Should I install a fan in both gable ends. What do you recommend? What fan would you recommend?

Hi XXXXXXXXXXX
There are many attic exhaust fans available. The unit should be themostatically controled unless you opt for a the solar powered unit. You don't want to install a fan in both ends since they will "fight" each other for air intake. A fan in one gable end will be sufficient. It will pull air from the other gable vent thereby drawing outside air through the entire attic space.

Here is a link to a solar option. There is a larger model available if you have a very large attic.

For a hard wired 120v option here is a fan from Grainger that can mount directly behind your existing gable vent. You don't want a louvred shutter since this would inhibit natural air flow when it is not hot enough for the fan to run.
