Question

My furnace is 19 yrs. old and heat exchanger is shot.. we have oil hot air --
Oil Co. wants to give us a new Armstrong furnace for about $3,500.
our second opinion says Lenox is a better furnace. What do we do? Is a Lenox well known to service people who may need to do repair (oil co. says Lenox not well known to service guys)

The beauty of oil furnaces is the oil guns are pretty much the same . Beckett, Wayne, Honeywell controls etc. The Lennox is known as first tier equipment due to being well and widely known. The Armstrong is a second tier known more foe being a bit more affordable. With the oil furnace it will be the better heat exchanger you will want. The advantage of Lennox is wide availability of parts. So in a nut shell the only parts servicemen will be working on primarily is the oil gun and those are pretty much the same. Sounds like someone really wants you to buy a Armstrong.
