Answer
Hello. From your description it sounds like there is an ignition misfire due to either a defective spark plug or ignition coil. Under a hard load a misfire is more likely to occur, and tend to go away under cruise conditions. If you can get the car to a shop that can scan for diagnostic codes, there will likely be a diagnostic code set that will indicate which cylinder is misfiring.

okay and the poping sound is part of the same thing? Generally how much can I expect this to cost when I go to the shop in the morning?
Accepted Answer
The popping is probably related to a misfire. It is also possible that there is a lean backfire occurring due to a vacuum leak, but my experience is that on a Continental there is usually a defective ignition coil. If I am correct about the ignition coil, I estimate roughly 250.00 based on $100 for a coil and plug, and 1.5 hours labor.
