i have a 2001 bmw m5. i installed a new battery and now my navigation screen is blank. the radio and cd changer still work. is there a way to fix this problem or do i have to replace the navigation unit?

i have tried nothing yet. just checked the forums but they were not much help.

The problem here is if the nav unit looses power while it is powering down it locks the unit up. You can try to perform a reset on the unit by unplugging it after the red light goes out. Then retry it. But most likely you will need a new nav unit.

There are no inline resistors to it. I would check to see if the red light is on in the nav unit.
