Not a Small Engine Question?
Question
I have a briggs stratton mower engine and I think I have a compression lock. The pull cord will not pull, it's like the engine is locked up. I was moving some thick, damp brush when this happened. I have read that I need to check the spark plug, but I am not sure how to do this. There is not a choke on my mower, or a fuel primer button. I have just put fresh fuel into the mower and the oil and clean and at the right level. This is only my second time using this mower, and I just purcahsed it new. How should I go about freeing up this lock?

Answer
The spark plug will be at the front of the engine. There will be a black wire that plugs onto it. Remove the black wire and then remove the spark plug with the correct socket. See if it will pull over then. Let me know.
