Question

1989 chevy c/k truck 4/w drive . Starts, but no power. Runs fairly well for a minute or so when cold. Then starts missing and flames come out the carberator. Put a new timing chain on and it ran for about a week and then went back to the same problem. Just replaced the ignition control module, but no change.

throttle body injection. Back fires or missfires at idle or advancing the throttle. throttle can be almost open and no significant increase in rpm. my cell phone is XXXXXXXXXX if you need to call.

at this point it won't run long enough to try that. don't believe there is any pop pop. When it was running fairly well last tuesday, there may have been a little pop or hesitation every 30 seconds. my cell phone is two four eight four six two four eight five seven.

ok pull the cap and rotor and look close at the reluctor wheel that is supposed to be pressed onto the dist shaft push it one way then the other with a screwdriver and make sure it is not loos..also look for cracks on the magnet in there..if it pops while acceleration spark is jumping or being sent at the wrong time..make sure firing order is right and also make darn sure the cap and rotor are not burnt

Reluctor wheel is not loose, and I didn't see any cracks on the magnet. I will get a new distributer and try it. Unless you have more suggestions.
